Find out what you will actually do
Look beyond the employer’s name: identify the work area and your daily task. “Packing” might mean portioning a product, labelling boxes or preparing components for dispatch. “Quality control” could mean inspecting a finished item or following a checklist. If a listing says only “easy factory work”, ask four questions: what is produced, what task will you perform, will you use equipment, and how are new workers trained? The answers help you compare jobs with similar titles but very different routines.
Physical demands and working conditions
Check whether you will stand for an entire shift, lift products, work in a cool room or repeat small hand movements. For food production, ask about temperature and hygiene requirements; for cable assembly, about the precision and pace of manual tasks; for metal and wood, about noise, dust and protective equipment. These are questions to ask, not conditions that apply to every factory. Find out which language is used for safety instructions and whom to contact if a task is unclear.
Understand the pay, not just the headline amount
Compare the base hourly rate, whether it is gross or net, the number of hours promised or guaranteed and where this is documented, night-shift supplements and bonus rules. If an advertisement says “up to”, ask how many shifts and which conditions are needed to reach that amount. Check any deductions for housing, transport or other services. Two monthly figures are not comparable if the schedules differ. Keep a written record of the terms agreed before travelling.
Location, shifts and the journey to work
A large city named in an advert may be a nearby reference point rather than the factory’s exact address. Check the location on a map, the start and end of each shift, and how you would get back to your accommodation. If transport is organised, ask about its cost and pickup point. For housing, check the price, number of occupants per room and what happens to the fee on days without shifts. These details affect what you keep from your wages.
Factory or warehouse?
Factory work usually involves making or processing a product; warehouse work is generally about receiving, storing, picking and dispatching goods. A factory may still have packing or warehouse positions, so the duties matter more than the filter name. If picking orders suits you better, compare warehouse jobs in Poland.
Before you apply
Choose two or three vacancies and compare their duties, exact workplace, base rate, promised hours, shifts, housing and commute. If a condition that matters to you is missing, ask about it before deciding to travel. That turns “factory work” from a broad label into a set of terms you can assess.
