Białystok is the largest city in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and an important industrial, commercial, and service centre in north-eastern Poland. Job searches here are not limited to factories: vacancies appear in logistics, food production, construction, retail, healthcare, cleaning, hotels, and food service.
According to city data, as of 31 December 2024, more than 43,000 business entities were registered in Białystok, including over 7,000 commercial companies. This shows the diversity of the local economy, but it does not mean that every company is currently recruiting. Each vacancy should always be checked as of the application date.
The statutory minimum-pay data is current as of 25 July 2026. Amounts required by law are stated as gross unless expressly indicated otherwise.

Frequently asked questions
Białystok has well-developed electrical engineering, electromechanical manufacturing, food production, sanitary-products, metal, logistics, printing, and textile sectors. Candidates may therefore find both simple manufacturing operations and technical positions requiring experience or confirmed qualifications.
Possible positions include:
production-line or equipment operator;
warehouse worker and order picker;
packer or quality controller;
food-production worker;
fitter, welder, electrician, or mechanic;
forklift operator with UDT authorisation;
sales assistant, cashier, or shelf-stacking employee;
cleaner, kitchen worker, or housekeeper;
driver, courier, or delivery worker.
A job title is only the beginning of the verification process. A «packer» may place lightweight products in boxes, work with food products in cold conditions, or move heavy packages. The recruiter should explain one full shift: the operation, pace, temperature, weight, target, and breaks.
If you are choosing between several cities, review work in Poland and compare not the job titles but the rate, guaranteed hours, transport, accommodation, and all deductions.
The Białystok subzone of the Suwałki Special Economic Zone covers approximately 94 hectares. According to the city's 2024 report, 29 companies had invested there, more than 1,800 jobs had been created, and the combined value of investments exceeded 945 million PLN. This confirms the importance of manufacturing to the city, but it is not a list of vacancies currently available.
Industrial and investment areas are located, among other places, in the south-eastern part of the city near Mickiewicza, Żurawia, Myśliwska, and Ciołkowskiego streets. Some vacancies labelled «Białystok» are actually located in neighbouring municipalities, so it is better to verify the address before signing the agreement.
For logistics, more than the city's streets matter. The Via Carpatia, S19, and S8 transport corridors pass through Białystok, while the Rail Baltica railway route links Warsaw with the Baltic states. This explains the development of warehouses, wholesale trade, and transport, but each specific site should still be checked by address.
Well-known manufacturing companies in the city and surrounding urban area include Biazet, AC, SaMASZ, Bison-Bial, NIBE-Biawar, ChM, and food-industry companies. These names are provided as reference points for understanding local sectors, not as confirmation that the companies are currently recruiting.
Another area is the Białystok Science and Technology Park on Żurawia Street. In 2024, it was home to 65 entities, including 28 start-ups and 37 established companies. This environment is more closely connected with IT, engineering, biotechnology, and business services, so it does not replace large-scale manufacturing vacancies, but it expands the local market for specialists.
A manufacturing vacancy should include not only the rate but also a description of the workplace. In an electromechanical or metalworking company, noise, use of tools, technical drawings, measuring instruments, and experience requirements are important. On a food-production line, the temperature, hygiene procedures, contact with raw products, and time required for changing clothes matter.
Seven questions quickly show how clearly a manufacturing job has been described:
Which operation does the employee perform for most of the shift?
What weight must be lifted without assistance?
Is there a target, and how does it affect the bonus?
How long does the paid training last?
Are a medical examination, sanitary certificate, or UDT authorisation required?
Who provides work clothing and protective footwear?
Is time spent preparing the workstation paid?
In warehouse work, the type of goods, temperature, scanner use, manual handling of loads, and method of measuring results all matter. If an advertisement states «a bonus of up to 1,000 PLN», this does not mean that a new employee will receive the full amount: the minimum target, adaptation period, and reasons for losing the bonus must be known.
Two hourly rates can produce the opposite result. At 34 PLN gross with 160 guaranteed hours, gross pay is 5,440 PLN. At 31 PLN gross with 200 hours, it is 6,200 PLN gross. If the second vacancy also provides free transport, its monthly result may be better even though the advertised rate is lower.
Among businesses registered in Białystok at the end of 2024, the largest share was in retail and motor-vehicle repair — 18.45%. Professional, scientific, and technical activities accounted for 12.44%, construction for 12.14%, and healthcare and social assistance for 9.51%. These shares describe the city's business structure, not the frequency of vacancies on a particular date.
Polish is usually more important in retail and services than for an individual manufacturing operation. The advertisement should make clear whether understanding workplace commands is enough or whether the employee must advise customers, take orders, operate a till, or complete documentation.
A construction vacancy requires a separate check of the address and type of site. «Work in Białystok» may involve daily travel across the voivodeship. Clarify whether travel time is paid, who provides tools and protective clothing, where the shift begins, and whether authorisation is required for work at height or with equipment.
For a housekeeper, the number of rooms and the cleaning standard are more useful than the shift length alone. A kitchen worker should ask whether preparation before opening and cleaning after closing are counted. Unpaid time is often hidden in precisely these details.
From 1 January 2026, the minimum salary in Poland is 4,806 PLN gross per month for full-time employment under an employment contract. The minimum hourly rate for specified civil-law contracts is 31.40 PLN gross.
According to city data, in 2024, the average monthly gross salary in Białystok's enterprise sector was 6,779 PLN, approximately 10.6% higher than a year earlier. The calculation covers dozens of different occupations, from manual to managerial roles, so the average does not represent the salary of an individual packer, operator, or cashier.
To calculate actual income, start with the hours guaranteed by the agreement. Then add night, weekend, and overtime hours at the applicable rates, check the bonus conditions, and subtract accommodation, transport, and other costs agreed in writing.
The phrase «up to 240 hours per month» means an upper limit, not a guarantee. If the employer guarantees 168 hours in writing, the basic calculation should use 168. Do not compare a gross rate in one vacancy with a net rate in another.
Manufacturing jobs may use 5/2 or 6/1 schedules, two or three eight-hour shifts, and sometimes 10–12-hour shifts. For the specific site, you need the start and finish times, duration of paid breaks, rotation pattern, and number of guaranteed hours.
Białystok has a bus network, but the route to an industrial zone must be checked against the shift start time. This is particularly important for a 05:00 start, a finish after 23:00, or a site outside the city's administrative boundary. Ask whether employer-provided transport is available and whether its cost is deducted from the salary.
The words «accommodation is provided» should become a written list of conditions:
the address and travel time;
the number of people in the room;
rent and utility charges;
the deposit and refund rules;
charges for the days before the first shift;
the accommodation rules after dismissal or changing vacancies.
«Accommodation is provided» does not mean that it is free or located in Białystok. If accommodation is a mandatory condition, compare work in Poland with accommodation and calculate the amount remaining after all expenses, not only the gross pay.
Do not agree to travel until you have received the name of the employer or agency, the workplace address, a description of the shift, the contract type, rate, guaranteed hours, schedule, accommodation, and transport details. If the agreement is signed with an agency, separately establish the name of the company where the work will actually take place.
Risk indicators:
payment for a «place reservation» without an agreement and legal basis;
refusal to name the employer or provide the address;
promising only the maximum salary;
mixing gross and net amounts;
a bonus without written rules;
accommodation without an address and full price;
a request to hand over the original passport to an unauthorised person;
no description of the duties.
Legal residence in Poland does not by itself explain under which agreement and on what legal basis a person starts work. The recruiter should name the person responsible for the paperwork, the timeframe, and the document the employee will receive before the first shift.

From 1 January 2026, the minimum pay is PLN 4,806 gross per month under an employment contract and PLN 31.40 gross per hour for certain civil law contracts. The conditions for the specific vacancy should be confirmed before buying tickets.
In warehousing or manufacturing, the requirement may sometimes be limited to understanding work instructions, while hotels, restaurants, and retail usually require more confident communication in Polish. The final language requirement is determined by the employer. Confirm in advance which language is used for the safety briefing and for explaining daily work tasks.
The city has daytime and night bus and tram services, but you should check the route based on the exact workplace address and your shift schedule. For workplaces outside the city, employer-organized transportation may sometimes be required. The conditions for the specific vacancy should be confirmed before buying tickets.
