The Szczecin–Świnoujście port complex is one of the largest in the Baltic region, while the maritime economy, shipbuilding, logistics, and metalworking have a noticeable influence on the structure of local vacancies. Owing to its proximity to the German border and maritime routes, Szczecin remains an important logistics centre.

In the northern part of the city, Ostrów Brdowski and Gryfia Island contain areas connected with maritime and industrial activity. Szczeciński Park Przemysłowy, covering approximately 45 hectares, operates on the former Stocznia Szczecińska Nowa site. This describes the location, not the number of vacancies or employees.

Logistics and warehouse facilities may be located in another part of the city or beyond its administrative boundaries. The name «Szczecin» in an advertisement is sometimes used as the nearest major reference point. Because of the proximity to the border, vacancies may be offered not only in Szczecin itself but also in nearby towns in the urban area.

Before accepting a vacancy, check:

2. the district or town;

3. the accommodation address;

4. the route for each shift;

5. the journey duration;

6. the travel cost;

7. how employees return after a night or overtime shift.

A vacancy described as being «in the port» also requires clarification. The port area is large, and the advertisement may refer to a terminal, warehouse, manufacturing site, service company, or contractor. Ask for the employer's legal name, the exact access zone, the duties, and the required authorisations.

The phrase «15 minutes from the city» explains nothing without a departure point. Check the route at the shift start and finish times: transport availability may differ after 22:00 or early in the morning.

How to compare pay and the agreement

From 1 January 2026, the minimum salary in Poland under an umowa o pracę is 4,806 PLN gross per month. The minimum hourly rate for specified civil-law agreements, including an umowa zlecenie, is 31.40 PLN gross per hour. These are national amounts, not a typical salary in Szczecin.

Before comparing two vacancies, convert the conditions to the same format:

• gross or net;

• the agreement type;

• the basic rate;

• guaranteed paid hours;

• supplements for night, weekend, public-holiday, and overtime work;

• the bonus criteria;

• deductions for accommodation, transport, clothing, or other services.

Example: 33 PLN gross × 168 hours = 5,544 PLN gross before taxes and supplements. If the advertisement states 7,000 PLN, request a written calculation showing which hours, night supplements, overtime, or bonuses account for the additional 1,456 PLN.

Do not compare 33 PLN gross with 28 PLN net without calculating both under the same conditions. Likewise, do not include a bonus of «up to 1,000 PLN» in the guaranteed budget until the employer explains the criteria and payment date.

The agreement type affects more than the amount received after deductions. Clarify how hours are recorded, whether absences are paid, the payment date, notice period, probationary period, and rules for ending employment. All conditions should match the document you sign.

When comparing WORKIUM vacancies, focus on guaranteed income after confirmed deductions. A higher advertised rate is not always more advantageous when fewer hours are available, accommodation is more expensive, or the journey creates additional costs.

How to check the schedule and transport

Warehouse, port, and manufacturing sites may operate two-shift, three-shift, or continuous systems. The phrase «8–12 hours» does not show how many consecutive days must be worked, whether night shifts are compulsory, or how many hours are guaranteed.

Request a timetable for one complete cycle:

• the start and finish of each shift;

• the number of working days;

• the length of breaks and whether they are paid;

• the overtime rules;

• supplements;

• the company-transport pick-up point;

• a backup route.

Example: a shift runs from 6:00 to 14:00, the bus collects the employee at 4:50, and returns to the accommodation at 15:25. An eight-hour shift occupies more than ten and a half hours of the day once waiting and travel are included.

Check overtime separately. If company transport has only one service after the standard shift, two additional hours may leave the employee without transport. Before agreeing, ask whether there is a later service or travel reimbursement.

If the company is outside Szczecin, check transfers as well as distance. A direct bus covering 25 km may be more convenient than a 10 km route involving two transfers.

How to assess accommodation and expenses

Accommodation should be compared together with the workplace. A room within the city may be inconvenient for a night shift at a remote warehouse, while cheaper accommodation outside the city may require daily transport expenses.

Before moving in, request written confirmation of:

• the full address;

• the monthly charge;

• the deposit and refund rules;

• utility charges;

• the number of people in the room;

• photographs of the sleeping area, kitchen, and bathroom;

• the accommodation rules;

• the move-out deadline after employment ends;

• the route and travel cost.

Calculation example: 5,200 PLN net minus 900 PLN for accommodation and 200 PLN for transport leaves 4,100 PLN before food and personal expenses. This is an illustrative example, not Szczecin market statistics.

«Accommodation is provided» does not mean «free». Clarify whether the charge is deducted from salary, whether a deposit is required, whether utilities are included, and how many people will actually live in the room.

If the address changes before arrival, request the photographs, price, accommodation agreement, and route again. Do not accept an additional deduction that was not included in the written conditions.

How to check the employer

Before departure, collect one complete information package:

• the employer's legal name;

• the company address;

• the position and duties;

• the agreement type;

• the gross or net rate;

• guaranteed hours;

• supplements and bonuses;

• the schedule;

• the accommodation conditions;

• transport;

• the start date;

Compare this information with the agreement. If the document states a different employer, city, position, rate, or workplace, do not rely on a verbal explanation — request a corrected version.

When checking reviews, use the company's legal name and the specific branch. A review concerning another warehouse, port terminal, contractor, or dormitory does not confirm your conditions.

Do not transfer money to a private card for a «vacancy reservation» without an agreement, invoice, and refund rules. A promise of high income without guaranteed hours, an exact address, and the employer's name is a reason to postpone the journey until the details are clarified.
