Welcome to WORKIUM! We offer real reviews, genuine working and living conditions, and a cash bonus after the completed work period.
Only those who have gone to work through WORKIUM and have actually started their job can leave a review. There are no other ways to submit a review, which means every review here is 100% genuine, without exceptions.
Jobs in Slovakia include production, the automotive industry, warehouses, logistics, food businesses, construction, and services. Candidates should compare the basic gross rate, guaranteed hours, shift pattern, supplements, contract, workplace address, and mandatory expenses—not simply the highest amount shown in an advert.
As of 19 August 2026, the basic minimum wage of the first degree of complexity is €915 gross per month or €5.259 gross per hour for a 40-hour week. This is a statutory minimum, not a guideline for each vacancy: higher minimum requirements apply for more complex work.
This page addresses the general goal of finding and assessing jobs in Slovakia. Vacancies for men, women, couples, individual cities, and professions have their own conditions and should be covered on separate pages so that different search intents are not mixed.
In Slovakia, a significant part of the offers for foreigners are formed by enterprises that require work in clear operations: assembling parts, quality control, packaging, picking, moving goods or servicing a production line. The title "production operator" in itself does not explain the workload, so the description should list specific actions.
Automotive companies and component suppliers are concentrated, in particular, near Bratislava, Trnava, Žilina and Nitra. Warehouse and logistics vacancies occur in the capital region and near major transport hubs. The city is only a guide here: a specific address may be in an industrial area outside the settlement.
Before responding, find out:
For example, two vacancies at an automotive company may have the same title but different tasks. In one, an employee installs light components on the line, in the other, he moves containers, works with tools and regularly lifts parts. Comparing them only by rate is wrong.
On WORKIUM, it is worth opening the full vacancy card, and not drawing conclusions from a short title. If the duties are not listed, ask to see the workflow or to state the main operations, the weight of the cargo and the norm in writing.
Some vacancies may be available without the Slovak language, but some positions require basic communication or training in Slovak. Ask in what language the briefing is conducted and who helps the employee in the first shifts.
Slovak legislation divides jobs into six levels of complexity. In 2026, the minimum monthly amounts for the full time fund range from €915 gross for the first level to €1,495 gross for the sixth. The hourly limits for a 40-hour week are from €5,259 to €8,592 gross.
Therefore, the question “what is the minimum wage?” is not enough. You need to know the level of complexity of the position and compare it with the actual responsibilities. If a person is responsible for equipment, safety or complex technological operations, the vacancy cannot be automatically assessed at the minimum of the first level.
To compare vacancies, use only guaranteed indicators. Conditional example: €6.50 gross × 160 hours = €1,040 gross before surcharges and deductions. If the ad shows €1,350, you need to separately find out which night, weekend, overtime or bonuses make up the €310 difference.
Check in the card and contract:
Salaries in Slovakia are usually paid monthly for the previous period on the day specified in the contract or collective agreement. The employer withholds tax and contributions, so the gross amount cannot be called a future payment "in cash".
The normal working week cannot exceed 40 hours; depending on the regime, it can be 37.5–40 hours. If the shift is longer than 6 hours, the employee is usually entitled to a 30-minute break, which is usually not included in working time.
The average working time, including overtime, must not exceed 48 hours per week. The minimum uninterrupted rest period between workdays is 12 hours, and the weekly rest period is two consecutive days, unless the legal work schedule provides for a permissible exception.
The phrase “12-hour workday” requires a calendar. Ask to see:
For example, being at the company from 06:00 to 18:00 does not always mean 12 paid hours. Breaks may be deducted from this time. This is why the monthly calculation should be based on paid hours, not on the duration of stay at the workplace.
Employment relationships in Slovakia are formalized in a written contract, and the employee must receive a copy. The document must be concluded no later than the first working day.
Most employment contracts are concluded for an indefinite period. The law also provides for fixed-term contracts and separate agreements for work outside of regular employment relationships. The rights and obligations of the employee depend on the type of contract, so it is necessary to know it before starting work.
The main conditions include:
The probationary period must be in writing. For a regular position, it cannot exceed 3 months, for certain management positions — 6 months. The verbal phrase "the first three months are a trial period" does not replace a clause in the contract.
A fixed-term contract can generally be concluded for a maximum of 2 years and extended or renewed within a two-year period no more than twice, unless there is an exception provided for by law. The minimum notice period for dismissal is one month, but in certain situations it may be longer.
Before signing, compare the contract with the WORKIUM card line by line. If the address, rate, position, start date or housing fee have changed, ask for an updated written confirmation. A screenshot of the old advertisement does not replace the current terms.
A reliable check does not start with reviews, but with specific data. A review may describe a different department, shift, dormitory or recruitment period, so it cannot be automatically transferred to your offer.
Before buying a ticket, put together one package:
Be wary if a recruiter quotes a high monthly salary but fails to provide a base rate or guaranteed hours. Another sign is a request to transfer money to a private card for “booking a place” without a contract, invoice, or clear return policy.
WORKIUM helps you compare jobs, but candidates must reconfirm changing conditions before leaving. Recruitment may end, start dates may change, and available housing may be replaced by another facility.
The right to work depends on citizenship and residence status. Ukrainian citizens with a valid temporary protection status in Slovakia can work according to the rules stipulated for this status; other candidates may need a work permit, confirmation of a vacancy or an appropriate type of residence.
Do not use only the phrase “biometrics allowed” as proof of legality. Visa-free entry does not always create the right to work. Before starting work, you need to check the document, the legal basis for work and the employer’s obligation to notify the competent authority.
For regulated professions, recognition of qualifications may be required. This is especially important for medicine, certain technical specialties and positions where the law requires a certificate or professional admission.
As migration rules change, check them on the date of employment. The article is updated on 19 August 2026, but the decision should be made based on the current status of the specific candidate.
Housing is not the main focus of this page, but it is impossible to properly evaluate the offer without it. The phrase “accommodation is provided” does not explain whether it is free, how many people will be in the room, and how the employee will get to the night shift.
Before departure, precise answers are needed:
The conditional calculation shows the impact of costs. If an employee expects €1,050 net, and housing, transportation, and mandatory payments total €320, after these expenses, €730 remains. This is not a salary forecast, but a way to compare two vacancies using the same formula.
If the accommodation changes before arrival, ask for the new address and a photo. The distance in kilometers does not give a complete answer: for a change at 05:30, the schedule, travel time, and availability of transportation are important, not just a mark on the map.
Open the current vacancies in Slovakia on WORKIUM and compare the duties, rate, guaranteed hours, schedule, contract, accommodation, and commute. Apply only after receiving written confirmation of the main conditions.
For first-complexity jobs, the minimum is €915 gross per month or €5.259 gross per hour for a 40-hour week. The statutory minimum is higher for more complex positions. Ask for a calculation based on the specific schedule and a written list of all deductions. Browse current offers if you are interested in jobs in Slovakia.
Normal working time is up to 40 hours and may be 37.5–40 hours depending on the work pattern. Average working time, including overtime, must not exceed 48 hours per week. Confirm every important condition for the specific vacancy before buying tickets.
A biometric passport confirms identity and may allow visa-free entry, but it is not a universal work permit. Candidates need a lawful basis for employment that matches their status. Confirm every important condition for the specific vacancy before buying tickets.
For ordinary positions, the probationary period may not exceed 3 months; for specified managerial positions, it may be up to 6 months. The condition must be stated in writing in the contract. Confirm every important condition for the specific vacancy before buying tickets.
Not always. Compare the basic rate, guaranteed hours, supplements, and bonuses. The upper amount may depend on night or overtime shifts. Confirm every important condition for the specific vacancy before buying tickets. Browse other jobs abroad for Ukrainians as well.
