Work in the Czech Republic is about more than the rate in Czech koruna. To understand the actual value of a vacancy, candidates need to check whether pay is stated before or after tax, guaranteed hours, supplements, accommodation, transport, the agreement, and the legal basis for employment.
At the time of review, the WORKIUM catalogue included vacancies in manufacturing and at an automotive plant. Their conditions clearly show why two similar vacancies cannot be compared only by the largest amount in the headline: one may state gross pay and another net pay, while the difference in accommodation costs may amount to several thousand Czech koruna per month.
The information in this material was checked on 25 July 2026. Statutory amounts are stated as gross unless expressly indicated otherwise. The conditions of individual vacancies may change, so they should be checked again in the vacancy listing and written agreement before departure.

Frequently asked questions
Foreign candidates in the Czech Republic may be offered work in manufacturing, automotive plants, warehouses, logistics, food production, and services. The job title does not always explain the actual duties: a «production operator» may assemble parts, perform quality checks, pack products, or operate a specific section of a production line.
Before applying, request a specific list of operations. For a manufacturing vacancy, it is important to know:
whether the job requires standing throughout the shift;
what weight must be lifted;
whether there is a productivity target;
the temperature and noise level;
how many shifts are used;
whether experience, language skills, or qualifications are required;
who pays for work clothing and the medical examination.
It is more useful for a candidate to compare two specific shifts than two job titles. At the same rate, one job may involve night shifts and a fast production-line pace, while another may offer daytime work but a longer journey.
Separate WORKIUM pages cover vacancies for men, for women, and for couples. They are mentioned briefly here and described in more detail on their dedicated pages.
In the WORKIUM catalogue, as of 25 July 2026, there was a vacancy at the Cooper automotive plant in Žďár nad Sázavou, approximately 75 km from Brno. The work involved the production of braking, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as window-lifting mechanisms.
The vacancy listing stated:
32,000–34,000 CZK gross per month;
160 CZK gross per hour;
a Monday-to-Friday schedule;
candidates aged 18–55;
paid accommodation at 930 CZK per month;
a WORKIUM bonus of 2,400 CZK after completing 30 working days.
This example is not a promise that all vacancies in the Czech Republic offer the same conditions. It shows which details should be available before applying: the rate, whether it is gross or net, the schedule, address, accommodation, candidate criteria, and exact bonus conditions.
Another offer for cable-harness production in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, approximately 40 km from Ostrava, stated 27,200–34,000 CZK per month, a rate of 170 CZK net per hour, an additional 5 CZK per hour during the first 60 working days, and accommodation costing 3,750 CZK per month.
It is incorrect to compare 160 CZK gross with 170 CZK net without an additional calculation because they use different bases. Likewise, accommodation costing 930 CZK and 3,750 CZK creates a difference of 2,820 CZK per month before transport, food, and other deductions are considered. First convert all offers to the same format and only then compare the final amount.
The two current examples also show the geography of manufacturing demand: the automotive vacancy is in the Vysočina Region, while the cable-harness factory is in the Moravian-Silesian Region. One involves automotive components and the other electrical manufacturing. Searching only in Prague may exclude suitable vacancies near smaller industrial towns.
From 1 January to 31 December 2026, the minimum wage in the Czech Republic for a standard 40-hour working week is 22,400 CZK gross per month or 134.40 CZK gross per hour. This is the statutory minimum, not the typical pay in every occupation.
«Gross» means the amount before taxes and contributions. «Net» means the amount after compulsory deductions, but even a stated net amount does not always include accommodation, transport, food, a deposit, or other payments. A written calculation is therefore needed for a proper comparison.
Check:
the rate and whether it is gross or net;
the guaranteed number of hours;
the target required for the basic rate;
supplements for night work, weekends, public holidays, and overtime;
the bonus conditions;
all regular and one-off deductions;
the date of the first payment and whether an advance is available.
Simple example: 160 CZK × 160 hours = 25,600 CZK gross before supplements. For 200 hours, the arithmetic result is 32,000 CZK, but part of that time may be paid as overtime, and the availability of 200 hours must be confirmed by the schedule and agreement. Do not replace guaranteed income with the maximum possible amount.
Night work in the Czech Republic carries a supplement of at least 10% of average earnings; Saturday and Sunday work also carries at least 10%. For overtime, an employee receives normal pay plus a supplement of at least 25%, unless the parties agree on compensatory leave. The specific rules may be more favourable under the law, a collective agreement, or the employer's internal conditions.
The standard working time in the Czech Republic is 40 hours per week, usually five eight-hour days. The statutory limit is 38.75 hours per week for a two-shift system and 37.5 hours for a three-shift or continuous system. A single shift must not exceed 12 hours.
A meal and rest break of at least 30 minutes must be provided no later than after six hours of work. It is usually unpaid: eight working hours may mean 8.5 hours of physical presence at the workplace.
Common descriptions such as «5/2», «Mon–Fri», or «8–12 hours» do not provide the full picture. Clarify the start time of each shift, the rotation system, the number of night shifts, whether Saturday work is compulsory, the length of breaks, and transport after a late shift.
A common mistake is to calculate monthly income using the maximum number of hours without checking whether they are guaranteed. If a vacancy promises «up to 240 hours», ask separately for the hours guaranteed by the agreement and those available only when production requires them.
An employment agreement in the Czech Republic must be in writing, and the employee must receive a copy before starting work. The company name, workplace, type of work, and start date should match what the candidate agreed with the manager.
Before signing, check:
the employer's legal name and the exact workplace address;
the position and actual duties;
the contract type;
the gross rate, calculation method, and payment date;
the standard hours and how working time is recorded;
supplements and bonus conditions;
the probationary period, if applicable;
accommodation, transport, and all deductions;
the rules for terminating the agreement;
the legal basis for this particular candidate's employment.
For third-country nationals, the right to enter the country does not always automatically include the right to work. The legal basis depends on nationality, residence status, and the type of work. Do not start a shift until the employer or responsible specialist has confirmed the paperwork and explained which document authorises the employment.
If the person is offered formally self-employed work instead of an employment agreement, even though the employer determines the place, time, and manner of performing the work, this may constitute unlawful disguised employment. Ask for the legal model to be explained in writing.
The phrase «accommodation is provided» does not mean that it is free or located near the workplace. In the two current WORKIUM examples, the charges were 930 CZK and 3,750 CZK per month. This difference has a noticeable effect on the amount remaining after expenses.
Before accepting a vacancy, ask for:
the exact address and photographs;
the full monthly charge;
utility charges and the deposit;
the number of people in the room;
the rules for accommodating a couple;
kitchen equipment and a washing machine;
the distance to the workplace;
the cost and timetable of transport;
the move-out deadline after employment ends.
For example, low room rent may lose its advantage if the employee spends money and more than an hour travelling every day. Conversely, more expensive accommodation near the workplace may produce a better overall result. Compare the monthly balance of «income after tax — accommodation — transport — compulsory payments», not one price in isolation.
If accommodation is the deciding criterion, open the separate page on work in the Czech Republic with accommodation, where this topic is covered in detail. On the general page, accommodation is considered only as one condition of the vacancy.
A reliable offer allows specific questions to be answered before a ticket is purchased. Save the vacancy listing and written confirmation of the conditions, then compare them with the agreement.
To avoid missing anything, check the vacancy in this order:
check the company's legal name and address;
obtain a description of the duties and workplace;
request a pay calculation in one consistent format;
clarify guaranteed hours, shifts, and supplements;
record all expenses;
check the accommodation and route;
confirm the legal basis for employment;
do not transfer money to a private individual solely for a «place reservation».
WORKIUM vacancy listings separately state the employer, location, duties, salary, whether it is gross or net, candidate criteria, schedule, accommodation, and bonus conditions where applicable. If any detail is missing or unclear, it should be clarified before departure rather than after the first shift.

For a standard 40-hour working week, from 1 January to 31 December 2026, the minimum wage is CZK 22,400 gross per month or CZK 134.40 gross per hour. Request a calculation based on the specific work schedule and a written list of all deductions.
Job catalogs commonly include vacancies in manufacturing, the automotive industry, warehousing, logistics, and the service sector. Focus not on the job title but on the specific duties, physical workload, shift pattern, and job requirements. Final employment conditions depend on the specific employer and vacancy.
Some employers hire candidates without fluent Czech if they can understand safety instructions and workplace directions. However, Czech may be required for quality inspection, technical roles, documentation-related tasks, or customer communication. This is a separate search criterion, so the language requirement should always be checked for each specific vacancy.
A standard shift is typically eight hours, although manufacturing companies often operate on a shift schedule. Under Czech law, a single shift should not exceed 12 hours. Breaks are generally not included in paid working time. Confirm the exact start and finish times of your shift and check transportation options for early and late shifts.
For some vacancies, accommodation is arranged by the employer or a partner, but it may be paid. In recent WORKIUM examples, the cost varied from CZK 930 to CZK 3,750 per month. Confirm the full price, deposit, number of occupants, address, and transportation options. Before traveling, obtain the exact address, total accommodation cost, up-to-date photos, and the accommodation rules.
Request an individual net salary calculation that includes taxes and mandatory contributions, then subtract accommodation, transportation, and any other deductions. Do not compare the gross pay of one vacancy with the net pay of another.
