Work in the Czech Republic for couples begins not with the label «couples accepted», but with confirmation of two jobs. The key questions are simple: will both partners be employed by the same company, will their shifts match, and will they be able to live in the same room?
As of 25 July 2026, the WORKIUM catalogue included vacancies for couples at automotive plants, food-production companies, and warehouses. The conditions at Cooper, Bidfood, and Rohlík show why the general label «couples» does not yet answer the practical questions of two candidates.

The label «couples» means that the employer considers two partners, but it does not automatically guarantee the same position, shift, or room. Each candidate is approved separately and receives an individual agreement.
Before reserving a vacancy, the couple should receive four confirmations:
two vacancies are available for the required date;
both partners will be accepted by the same employer;
each partner's schedule is known;
shared accommodation has been agreed.
If the only confirmation is «we can accept a couple», but there are not two places in the system, one partner may be left without work or assigned to another company. Each partner is therefore processed separately, while both applications should record the condition that they are to be employed together.
Farm work for couples appears in searches, but it represents a separate occupational intent. Farming is mentioned here only as a possible sector; the main page covers all current vacancies for couples.
At the Cooper automotive plant in Žďár nad Sázavou, approximately 75 km from Brno, couples could work in the production of braking, fuel, and cooling systems as well as window-lifting mechanisms.
The listing stated:
32,000–34,000 CZK gross per month for one employee;
160 CZK gross per hour;
an age range of 18–55;
a Mon–Fri schedule;
accommodation costing 930 CZK per month;
a WORKIUM bonus of 2,400 CZK after 30 working days.
Bidfood in Opava, approximately 35 km from Ostrava, offered work packing ice cream, chicken, seafood, and ready meals. The vacancy accepted men, women, and couples aged 18–60.
The listing stated 150 CZK net per hour, 30,000–35,500 CZK net per month, a Mon–Fri schedule, accommodation costing 3,000 CZK, and a WORKIUM bonus of 5 CZK per hour during the first 60 working days.
The Rohlík warehouse in Brno accepted couples for order picking from delivery notes and scanner work. The rate was 160–190 CZK net per hour, the monthly range was 40,000–47,500 CZK net for one employee, and accommodation cost 7,000 CZK.
Rohlík has the highest rate among these examples, but also the most expensive accommodation. Cooper has lower accommodation costs, but its rate is stated as gross. Compare only amounts stated in the same format — either all gross or all net.
One vacancy listing is not enough for a couple. Written confirmation should include two places, two approvals, and the start date for each partner.
Check that it includes:
the full names of both candidates;
the name of the same company;
each partner's position;
the number of available places;
the arrival and start dates;
the rate for each partner;
the schedule for each partner;
the accommodation conditions;
the contact details of the responsible person.
Practical scenario: the employer has one packing position and one quality-control position. This may be a vacancy for a couple, but the shifts and requirements may differ. Request two separate descriptions rather than one general answer.
It is also worth agreeing in advance on a plan if one partner is not accepted after the medical examination or document check. Whether another place will be offered or the couple will withdraw from both reservations should be known before tickets are purchased.
One employer does not always mean one shift. A company may have different production lines, and allocation may take place after training. The label «shift schedule» alone does not show whether the partners will work the same shift.
To understand the actual schedule, clarify:
whether the same shift is confirmed for both partners;
whether their schedules may diverge after training;
whether they have the same days off;
how often the rotation changes;
whether company transport operates for all shifts;
whether the schedule can be changed after moving into the accommodation.
Cooper and Bidfood stated Mon–Fri schedules, but this does not yet confirm the same start time. Rohlík uses a shift schedule, so rotation is especially important there.
If the partners work different shifts, this may be acceptable when transport is convenient and they share days off. A problem arises when one partner finishes a night shift while the other starts an early shift and the accommodation is far from the workplace.
All amounts should be calculated for two people, but each salary should be calculated separately. Gross and net pay cannot be added together without an individual calculation.
For Bidfood, at a rate of 150 CZK net and 200 hours, one employee earns an arithmetic 30,000 CZK net, while two earn 60,000 CZK net. If the 3,000 CZK accommodation charge is deducted from each person, 54,000 CZK remains after 6,000 CZK is paid, before other expenses. If the amount is charged per room, the result will be different — the payment basis must be confirmed.
For Rohlík, 160 CZK net × 200 hours = 32,000 CZK net per person, although the monthly range in the listing starts at 40,000 CZK. Ask which hours, supplements, or bonuses are included in the minimum monthly amount.
For Cooper, 160 CZK gross × 200 hours = 32,000 CZK gross per person. For a couple, this is 64,000 CZK gross, but the actual net amount will depend on the taxes and circumstances of each employee.
Do not include WORKIUM bonuses in regular salary. A fixed bonus or supplement for the first 60 working days has its own conditions and payment period for each candidate.
The label «accommodation is provided» does not guarantee a private room for a couple. A dormitory may house partners separately by gender or offer a room for a couple at a different price.
Before arrival, it is worth having:
confirmation of one room;
the full price for two people;
information about the deposit and utility charges;
the number of other residents in the flat;
photographs and the address;
the move-out deadline after the agreement ends;
the route and transport arrangements for both shifts.
The difference between Cooper (930 CZK) and Rohlík (7,000 CZK) is 6,070 CZK per month based on the amounts shown in the listings. However, the joint budget cannot be calculated correctly without clarifying whether the charge applies per person or per room.
If a private room is essential for the couple, state this before reserving the vacancy. The phrase «we will accommodate you together» may mean the same flat, but not necessarily the same room.
Each partner must have an individual written agreement, rate, schedule, and legal basis for employment. One partner's status or documents do not automatically give the other the right to work.
Check in both agreements:
the same employer and address;
the start date;
the position and duties;
the gross or net rate;
guaranteed hours;
the schedule and supplements;
accommodation and transport;
the procedure for ending employment;
the probationary period;
the document authorising employment.
If the same shift and one room were promised verbally but are not included in the written confirmation, clarify the discrepancy before departure. If one partner already has the right to work while the other's documents are still being processed, find out whether the employer is prepared to coordinate both start dates or offer a temporary solution.
Do not transfer money to a private individual solely for «reserving two places» without a clear payment purpose and refund rules.
WORKIUM listings show the employer, address, duties, rate, whether it is gross or net, schedule, accommodation, and candidate criteria. For a couple, the connection between the two applications should also be confirmed in writing.
Review current work in the Czech Republic for couples on WORKIUM. General employment rules are explained on the work in the Czech Republic page, while this page covers only the matters important for employing two partners at the same time.
It indicates that the employer accepts couples, but for a specific date you should separately confirm the availability of two job openings and two approvals.
Not always. Even at the same workplace, partners may be assigned to different production lines and shifts. Ask for written confirmation of both work schedules. Find out the exact start and end times of each shift and check the availability of transportation for early and late shifts.
This should be agreed upon separately. “Shared accommodation” may mean the same apartment or dormitory, but it does not necessarily mean the same room. Before traveling, obtain the exact address, the full cost, up-to-date photos, and the accommodation rules.
The verified catalog included automotive companies Cooper and Schaeffler, the food production company Bidfood, and the Rohlík warehouse. The current list of vacancies may change.
First, calculate each partner’s net salary, then add the two amounts and subtract accommodation, transportation, and any other deductions for both people. Do not mix gross and net figures. Ask for a calculation based on the specific work schedule and a written list of all deductions.
Before making a reservation, agree on a backup plan: another position at the same company, an alternative vacancy, or canceling both applications. Do not leave this issue unresolved until arrival. Also, find out in advance which language is used for the safety briefing and for explaining daily work tasks.
