Welcome to WORKIUM! We offer real reviews, genuine working and living conditions, and a cash bonus after the completed work period.
Only those who have gone to work through WORKIUM and have actually started their job can leave a review. There are no other ways to submit a review, which means every review here is 100% genuine, without exceptions.
Work in Ostrava is available both within the city itself and in industrial zones across the wider urban area, where the workplace address affects the schedule, commute, and actual costs. Ostrava is the largest city in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Vacancies in the region may be found in manufacturing, logistics, automotive components, metalworking, warehouses, cleaning, and services.
This city page does not repeat all employment rules for the country. The minimum wage, agreements, documents, and general employee rights are explained in more detail on the parent page about work in the Czech Republic. The main purpose here is to understand exactly where the job in Ostrava is located and whether every shift can be reached.
The information was checked on 25 July 2026. Recruitment conditions, the accommodation address, and the start date may change, so they should be confirmed before departure.

Ostrava has an industrial history, but its modern labour market is not limited to metallurgy. Vacancies in and around the city may include:
production operator or manufacturing worker;
automotive-component assembler;
quality controller;
order picker and warehouse worker;
packer;
metalworking employee;
welder, fitter, or electrician;
cleaner of manufacturing, office, or hotel premises;
food-production or service employee.
This is not a list of vacancies open on a specific date. Current recruitment and candidate criteria should be checked in the employer's up-to-date vacancy listing.
Separate requirements may apply to women and couples, so these topics are covered on specialised pages.
A job title does not show all the duties. A «production operator» may inspect parts, load material into a machine, or work on a line with a fixed pace. «Cleaning» may refer to an office, hotel, production hall, or company grounds — each involving different chemicals, schedules, and physical demands.
Before applying, clarify:
the main operations performed during the shift;
the maximum weight and lifting frequency;
the working posture;
the temperature, dust, and noise;
the target and how it is monitored;
whether night work is required;
the language used for training;
who pays for the medical examination and protective clothing.
In a WORKIUM vacancy listing, compare not only the salary but also the exact content of the work. If the description is brief, request a list of operations or a video of the workplace.
The label «Ostrava» may refer to different locations. The Ostrava-Hrabová Industrial Zone lies within the city and covers 115 hectares. The city lists automotive-component manufacturer Sungwoo Hitech and computer-component manufacturer Pegatron Czech among the companies in the zone. These companies are mentioned as examples of businesses operating in the industrial zone, not as confirmation of current recruitment.
The Ostrava-Mošnov Strategic Zone is located approximately 25 km south of central Ostrava, near the international airport, railway, and motorway. Travel to an early or night shift may therefore require a company bus.
Before accepting a vacancy, check:
the full workplace address;
the name of the industrial zone;
the transport pick-up point;
the departure time for each shift;
the journey duration;
the transport cost;
how employees return after overtime.
For example, accommodation in central Ostrava does not guarantee a short journey to Mošnov. 25 km may become a long trip involving a transfer if the employer does not organise transport.
Also check whether the address is genuinely within Ostrava. Advertisements sometimes use the city as the nearest well-known reference point even though the workplace is in another town in the Moravian-Silesian Region.
In 2026, the national minimum wage in the Czech Republic is 22,400 CZK gross per month or 134.40 CZK gross per hour for a 40-hour working week. This is the lower legal limit, not a typical rate in Ostrava.
For a proper comparison, you need:
the basic gross or net rate;
guaranteed paid hours;
supplements for night, weekend, and overtime work;
the bonus criteria;
accommodation and transport charges.
Compare gross and net amounts especially carefully. Two vacancies showing 160 CZK per hour may produce different results if one amount is before tax and the other after deductions.
Illustrative calculation: 160 CZK gross × 168 hours = 26,880 CZK gross before supplements and deductions. If the advertisement shows 34,000 CZK, the employer should explain which hours and bonuses create the 7,120 CZK difference.
Do not plan a budget using the upper limit stated as «up to». A bonus may depend on attendance, productivity, or length of service, while overtime may depend on production demand. Treat only the rate and number of hours confirmed in writing as guaranteed.
On WORKIUM, compare offers using the same formula: income from guaranteed hours minus confirmed expenses. A higher rate may be less advantageous when the journey is longer and accommodation and transport are more expensive.
Manufacturing companies may operate two-shift, three-shift, or continuous systems. The phrase «8–12 hours» does not explain how many working days there are in a cycle or how day and night shifts alternate.
Request a timetable for at least one complete cycle:
start and finish times;
paid and unpaid breaks;
the number of working days;
the rules for moving between shifts;
the guaranteed monthly hours;
supplements;
transport for each shift time.
If a bus collects employees one hour before the shift and returns them one hour after it ends, an eight-hour shift occupies around ten hours of the day. This time may be unpaid, but it affects sleep, meals, and the ability to deal with personal matters.
Another point should be considered when working overtime. The company bus may depart only after the standard shift. Before agreeing to additional hours, find out whether another service or travel reimbursement is available.
Some vacancies may be available without Czech if a coordinator is present. However, the employee must understand safety instructions, emergency signals, and procedures. Ask which language is used during training and who provides support during the first shifts.
Accommodation is not the main subject of this city page, but its address determines how practical the job is. The words «accommodation is provided» do not show the price, number of people in the room, or route to the workplace.
Check:
the address;
the monthly charge;
the deposit;
utility charges;
the number of residents in the room;
the rules for couples;
the move-out deadline after employment ends;
the distance to the pick-up point;
the travel time and transport cost.
Illustrative budget: 27,000 CZK net minus 4,000 CZK for accommodation and 1,000 CZK for transport leaves 22,000 CZK before food and personal expenses. This is not market statistics, but a way to compare real vacancy listings using the same criteria.
If the accommodation changes before arrival, request the new address and photographs. Moving to a different district may completely change the commute even if the room price remains the same.
Before departure, collect all of the following information:
the employer's legal name;
the exact workplace address;
the job title;
the specific duties;
the rate and whether it is gross or net;
guaranteed hours;
the schedule;
the contract type;
the accommodation address and price;
transport;
the start date;
the coordinator's contact details.
Compare these conditions with the agreement. An employee in the Czech Republic should receive a copy of the agreement before starting work. If the employer, address, rate, or position changes, request an updated document.
Search for reviews using the exact company name, address, and branch. A comment about another company, dormitory, or shift does not prove the conditions of your vacancy.
Do not transfer money to a private card for a «place reservation» without an agreement, invoice, and refund terms. Do not plan the journey without a confirmed address, start date, and contact for the person coordinating arrival.
Review several WORKIUM listings and compare them using the same criteria. Do not choose by rate alone: the actual location, schedule, and commute affect daily costs and time.
Jobs may be available in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, metalworking, automotive components, cleaning, and the service sector. The current list depends on which employers are hiring.
CZK 22,400 gross per month or CZK 134.40 gross per hour based on a 40-hour workweek. This is the nationwide statutory minimum wage, not the typical pay rate in a particular city. Ask for a calculation based on the specific work schedule and a written list of all deductions.
It is about 25 km south of the city center. Before accepting a job offer, check whether employer-provided transportation is available for every shift.
It depends on the vacancy and whether a coordinator is available. In any case, workers must understand instructions and safety rules. Confirm in advance which language is used for safety training and for explaining daily tasks.
Check the type of facility, its size, the equipment provided, cleaning chemicals used, work schedule, performance targets, address, and transportation. Cleaning an office and cleaning a production facility involve different working conditions.
