Work in Karlovy Vary may involve hotels, restaurants, service roles, cleaning, warehouses, manufacturing, and packing. To make the right choice, it is important to compare not only the rate but also the type of duties, contact with guests, the language requirements of the specific vacancy, the schedule, guaranteed hours, address, and agreement.
In service vacancies, income may depend on workload, the number of shifts, and the rules for paying bonuses or tips. In manufacturing and warehouse offers, pace, physical workload, night shifts, and transport are particularly important. This information helps candidates compare vacancies in Karlovy Vary and choose an offer with clear conditions. Detailed materials on individual occupations and employers are provided on separate pages.
The material was updated on 31 July 2026. Statutory amounts are stated as gross unless expressly indicated otherwise.

View vacancies in Karlovy Vary
Vacancies may appear in Karlovy Vary and nearby towns in hotels, restaurants, service departments, cleaning, kitchens, warehouses, packing, manufacturing, and quality control. The current range depends on open offers.
Possible areas include:
cleaning rooms and common areas;
support work in the kitchen;
serving guests;
preparing the dining area;
receiving and arranging goods;
packing and labelling;
assembling and inspecting products;
order picking.
The same job title may refer to different work. A «hotel worker» may clean rooms, prepare areas for guests, work in the laundry, or assist during breakfast service. An «operator» may inspect a product, assemble parts, or pack goods.
Before publishing a vacancy, the WORKIUM team checks whether it contains information about duties, pay, schedule, address, transport, and accommodation where offered. If any conditions are missing, clarify them before travelling.
Practical example. Two advertisements state «hotel cleaning». In one case, the employee cleans up to 12 rooms per shift using a trolley and lift; in the other, the number of rooms is not stated, there are stairs, and additional cleaning of common areas is required. Without an exact target, these vacancies cannot be compared.
General documents and legal rules are explained on the work in the Czech Republic page. This page deals specifically with choosing local work in Karlovy Vary.
Language requirements depend on the specific duties, not only on the job title. Work involving guests, telephone calls, orders, or a till usually requires a different level of communication from cleaning, packing, or a support operation without regular customer contact.
Ask:
who the employee must communicate with during the shift;
which language is used for the safety briefing;
whether the employee must answer guests' questions;
whether telephone calls or till work are involved;
whether menus, orders, or process sheets must be read;
who helps if there is a misunderstanding;
whether language skills are checked during the interview.
Do not accept a general statement that «no language is required» if the work involves contact with guests. Ask for two or three typical situations that occur during the shift.
Example. For room cleaning, it may be enough for the employee to understand the briefing, room numbers, and short messages from the coordinator. Reception work requires communication with guests, answering questions, and explaining rules. These are different requirements, even when both vacancies are in the same hotel.
Work without language skills is covered separately. This section deals only with the language requirements of a specific vacancy.
In the Czech Republic, standard working time is 40 hours per week. It is 38.75 hours for a two-shift system and 37.5 hours for a three-shift or continuous system. One shift should not exceed 12 hours.
In service work, the schedule may include early breakfast shifts, evening work, weekends, and public holidays. In manufacturing or warehouse work, day and night shifts may rotate.
Request an example of an actual week and check:
the start and finish times;
the number of shifts;
the guaranteed hours;
how days off are arranged;
the length of breaks;
the rules for additional shifts;
payment for training and downtime;
how working time is recorded.
Typical situation. The advertisement states «up to 200 hours per month», but only 160 hours are confirmed by the agreement. The preliminary income calculation should be based on the guaranteed 160 hours rather than the maximum figure.
If the number of shifts depends on the occupancy of the hotel or restaurant, clarify the minimum number of hours and how far in advance the schedule is announced. Written confirmation is preferable.
From 1 January to 31 December 2026, the minimum wage in the Czech Republic for a standard 40-hour week is 22,400 CZK gross per month or 134.40 CZK gross per hour. This is the statutory minimum, not the typical rate for every vacancy in Karlovy Vary.
Compare like with like: gross with gross and net with net. For a preliminary calculation, use:
rate × guaranteed hours + guaranteed supplements − confirmed expenses.
Illustrative example. 165 CZK gross × 160 guaranteed hours = 26,400 CZK gross before supplements. Another vacancy with a rate of 158 CZK and 180 hours gives 28,440 CZK gross. A higher rate does not always mean higher guaranteed income.
Night work in the Czech Republic carries a supplement of at least 10% of average earnings; work on Saturday and Sunday also carries a supplement of at least 10%. For overtime, the employee receives ordinary pay plus a supplement of at least 25%, unless the parties agree on compensatory time off.
A bonus of «up to 3,000 CZK» should be included only when it is clear what it is paid for. It may depend on attendance, quality ratings, the number of completed tasks, or financial results.
Tips do not replace the guaranteed rate. Clarify:
who receives the tips;
whether they are individual or shared;
how often they are distributed;
whether there is a written rule;
whether the employer may retain a portion;
whether tips are included in the advertised income figure.
Example. A vacancy promises «up to 35,000 CZK including tips», but the guaranteed salary is 26,000 CZK gross. The guaranteed 26,000 CZK should be used for comparison, while tips should be treated only as a variable component.
In service work, the workload is often created not by one heavy item but by pace, walking, stairs, bending, and repeated movements.
Clarify:
how many rooms, tables, or areas are assigned per shift;
whether there is a lift;
the weight of the trolley or container;
whether linen, dishes, or boxes must be carried;
how much time the employee spends standing;
whether rotation is provided;
how much time is allowed for one task;
which protective equipment is provided.
whether work clothing is provided and whether there is a changing area;
who pays for the medical examination if one is required.
Illustrative example. If 30 minutes are allowed to clean one room and 12 rooms must be prepared during the shift, that amounts to six hours before accounting for travel between floors, restocking materials, and cleaning common areas. This calculation is not the target for a specific hotel, but it helps candidates ask the right questions.
For manufacturing or warehouse work, ask for one full cycle to be described: the maximum weight, movement frequency, working posture, temperature, noise, and rotation between operations.
The name «Karlovy Vary» in an advertisement does not guarantee that the workplace is in the city centre. A company, hotel, or warehouse may be on the outskirts or in another town in the Karlovy Vary Region.
Before applying, request:
the full address;
the name or number of the stop;
the timetable for early and late shifts;
the pick-up point for the company bus;
the route from the stop to the entrance;
the coordinator's contact details;
a backup route.
Check the route for the actual shift time. An option available at 14:00 may not operate before an early breakfast shift or after a late evening shift.
Example. During the day, the journey takes 25 minutes, but the first service arrives after the early shift begins. A different route, company transport, different accommodation, or a different schedule is required.
Take into account not only the rate but also the total time spent travelling and working.
An employment agreement in the Czech Republic must be in writing, and the employee should receive their own copy before starting work.
Compare the agreement with the vacancy:
the employer's name;
the type of work;
the workplace;
the start date;
the gross or net rate;
working time;
the probationary period;
agreed deductions.
If the work is performed at the premises of an agency client or another company, clarify who the employer is, who pays the salary, and to whom documents should be submitted.
Risk situation. Before the first shift, the candidate is informed of a different address, duties, or rate. Do not start under the new conditions until they have been confirmed in writing. Do not hand over the original passport to an unauthorised person or pay solely for a promise of work.
Compare offers using the same criteria:
the specific duties;
contact with guests and language requirements;
the target and physical workload;
the schedule and guaranteed hours;
the gross or net rate;
guaranteed supplements;
the bonus and tipping rules;
the address and transport;
the agreement type and employer.
If any information has not been confirmed in writing, do not include it in the comparison.
Example. Vacancy A: 170 CZK gross, 160 guaranteed hours, tips without a written rule, and an early shift requiring a transfer. Vacancy B: 162 CZK gross, 180 hours, a fixed supplement, and a direct route. Assess guaranteed income, duties, schedule, travel, and the predictability of the conditions.
Separate pages cover work for Ukrainians, women, vacancies with accommodation, work without language skills, sanatorium jobs, and individual occupations and employers. This page focuses specifically on the general choice of work in Karlovy Vary.
The selection depends on which employers are currently hiring. Before applying, look beyond the job title and check the duties, work schedule, physical workload, workplace address, and contract terms. Two vacancies with the same title may differ significantly in work pace and actual pay.
Such positions are available, especially in warehousing, manufacturing, packing, and general support roles. However, they may require willingness to work shifts, physical stamina, or the ability to use a scanner. Ask how the training is organized, how long it lasts, and what pay rate applies during the training period.
Ask for the guaranteed pay rate and the minimum number of working hours. Add only confirmed bonuses or allowances, then subtract the cost of accommodation, transportation, and any other deductions. The maximum amount shown in a job advertisement is not guaranteed pay unless the employer has clearly explained the conditions required to receive it.
Find out the exact start and finish time for each shift, the number of working days, the length of breaks, and how new schedules are communicated. Also check transportation options for early and late shifts. A long commute can significantly increase the actual length of your working day.
Ask for the exact address, recent photos, the full cost, the number of people sharing the room, and information about the security deposit. Check whether utility bills are included and how long the commute to work takes. A listing that says “accommodation provided” does not necessarily mean the accommodation is free.
Before buying your ticket, obtain written confirmation of the job title, duties, workplace address, contract type, pay rate, guaranteed working hours, work schedule, accommodation, transportation, and all deductions. Also save the contact details of the coordinator who will be responsible for your arrival and your first working day.
