Factory work in Poland is not a single occupation. The same job-advertisement title may cover assembling automotive parts, packing food products, operating machinery, quality control, welding, working with plastics, or moving finished goods. The factory name alone does not explain what the employee will actually do during the shift.
Pay and working-time rules were checked as of 25 July 2026. Statutory amounts are stated as gross unless expressly indicated otherwise.

Frequently asked questions
Manufacturing employers most often recruit production-line operators, assemblers, packers, quality controllers, material-feeding workers, machine operators, and warehouse employees. Technical positions may require electricians, mechanics, setters, fitters, welders, and CNC operators.
Typical operations include:
assembling components according to instructions;
fitting cables, seals, or small parts;
feeding raw materials into a machine;
visual and dimensional inspection;
packing, labelling, and palletising;
cleaning the workstation and equipment;
moving materials with a hand trolley or forklift;
completing production documentation.
The words «simple process» do not explain the workload. Repeating a short operation several hundred times during a shift may be physically harder than varied work. Ask for the weight of the part, body position, line speed, temperature, noise level, and number of breaks.
For a wider selection of countries and occupations, review work in Poland, while using this page specifically to compare manufacturing vacancies.
The automotive sector covers more than vehicle assembly. A large share of vacancies involves components such as seats, plastic parts, wiring harnesses, batteries, tyres, braking systems, and metal parts. The search phrase «factory work in Poland in the automotive industry» reflects a separate intent, so this section focuses on explaining the differences between operations rather than becoming a standalone automotive-industry page.
At electronics factories, employees fit small components, test finished products, perform visual checks, pack equipment, or operate an automated line. Some positions require precise manual work and colour recognition, while others involve reading diagrams or standing for long periods.
Metalworking presents different risks: sharp edges, noise, lubricants, hot surfaces, welding, and the handling of heavier parts. The phrase «machine operator» may mean simply loading a workpiece or independently setting machine parameters. The second option requires different qualifications and should be paid accordingly.
Well-known brands — Volkswagen, Toyota, LG, Electrolux, Bosch, or others — do not by themselves confirm that a vacancy is genuine. The advertisement should state the legal name of the employer or agency, the specific plant, and the address. Sometimes the worker is employed by an agency rather than by the factory whose name appears in the advertisement.
In WORKIUM vacancies, we separate the company name from the actual operation. For example, a video or description of an automotive plant is useful only when the candidate can see whether the role involves assembly, inspection, packing, or feeding parts. A recognisable brand does not replace this explanation.
At fish, meat, dairy, confectionery, or canning plants, the word «packing» may conceal very different conditions. The work may involve a cold area, contact with raw products, odours, humidity, frequent washing of hands and workwear, hygiene checkpoints, and a fast conveyor pace.
Before accepting a food-production vacancy, clarify seven details:
the temperature in the work area;
the weight of containers or boxes;
whether there is contact with meat, fish, or allergens;
how long changing clothes and hygiene procedures take;
whether this time counts as working time;
who arranges the medical examination and sanitary documents;
how often the operation changes during the day.
Example: «work at a sausage factory» may mean packing a finished product in a dry area or preparing raw materials at a low temperature. The rate may be the same, but the physical demands and requirements are completely different.
It is best to ask the recruiter to describe one shift from entry into the production area until the end. This makes it clear where the employee stands, what is handled manually, which action is repeated, how results are measured, and what happens when the line stops.
A typical sequence on an automated line may look like this:
take over the shift and check the workstation;
load the material;
monitor the control panel and product quality;
separate defective items;
clean the equipment;
pass information to the next shift.
If the recruiter responds only with «the work is easy» or «everything will be shown on site», the main conditions have not yet been agreed. Ask about the maximum weight, hourly target, pace during the adaptation period, and responsibility for defects.
For vacancies that do not require experience, the length of training matters. Training should take place before the employee is allowed to operate the machine independently. Mandatory occupational-safety training counts as working time.
From 1 January 2026, the minimum salary in Poland is 4,806 PLN gross per month for full-time employment under an employment contract. For specified civil-law contracts, the minimum hourly rate is 31.40 PLN gross.
At a factory, actual gross pay depends on:
the gross or net rate;
the guaranteed number of hours;
supplements for night, weekend, and overtime hours;
attendance, quality, or productivity bonuses;
deductions for accommodation, transport, clothing, or other services.
For example, 34 PLN gross × 160 guaranteed hours = 5,440 PLN gross, while 31 PLN gross × 200 hours = 6,200 PLN gross. A higher rate does not guarantee a higher monthly income when fewer hours are available.
Targets may be measured in parts per hour, units per shift, or quality percentage. A bonus of «up to 1,000 PLN» requires a stated minimum result, adaptation period, acceptable defect rate, and reasons why the bonus may be reduced.
Under the basic working-time rules for an employment contract, working time does not exceed 8 hours per day and averages 40 hours per week over an average five-day working week within the settlement period. Shift work is permitted in manufacturing, and where justified by the organisation of work, an equivalent working-time system may use shifts of up to 12 hours.
This explains why advertisements mention 5/2 or 6/1 schedules, two or three shifts, and 8-, 10-, or 12-hour working days. However, the phrase «12 hours» alone does not show:
how many consecutive days the employee works;
how day and night shifts alternate;
which breaks are paid;
when overtime begins;
how many hours are guaranteed per month;
how weekend work is compensated.
The phrase «up to 240 hours» means a possible upper limit, not a guaranteed workload. Calculate basic income using the hours stated in the agreement. For an employee working under an employment contract, the schedule and time-recording system must comply with the company's rules and the Labour Code.
Before starting work, the employee must receive proper safety instructions and, where required, undergo a medical examination. The company must provide protective equipment appropriate to the risk, such as footwear, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, a mask, or protective clothing.
Do not start working with a machine without an explanation of:
where the emergency stop is located;
who is authorised to remove the safety guard;
how the equipment is cleaned;
what to do if material becomes jammed;
where to report a fault;
who authorises the employee to work independently.
A particularly dangerous situation arises when a new employee is told to adjust material by hand inside a machine that has not been fully stopped and secured against restarting. A high working pace or bonus never justifies breaking safety procedures.
Forklift work requires the appropriate UDT authorisation, while welding or electrical work requires confirmed competence depending on the operation. If an agency promises to «arrange the authorisation after the employee starts», clarify what the employee will do before it is obtained.
Factories are often located in industrial zones or neighbouring municipalities, so the city name alone is not enough. Check the entrance-gate address, the start time of the first shift, the end time of the night shift, the route from the accommodation, and the cost of employer-provided transport.
The written accommodation conditions should include:
the address;
the number of people in the room;
rent and utility charges;
the deposit and refund rules;
travel time to the factory;
charges for the period before the first shift;
the move-out rules after changing jobs.
«Accommodation is provided» does not mean «free accommodation». Candidates for whom accommodation is important can use the separate page on work in Poland with accommodation — it compares accommodation costs and conditions rather than manufacturing processes.
Before applying, collect all the main vacancy conditions: the legal name of the employer or agency, the factory, address, operation, contract type, rate, guaranteed hours, supplements, bonus, schedule, accommodation, and transport.
Red flags:
the factory or actual employer is not named;
the duties are described only as «easy work»;
only the maximum salary is stated, without guaranteed hours;
gross and net amounts are mixed;
the bonus has no written rules;
the temperature, weight, or hazardous factors are not stated;
payment is requested for a «place reservation» without an agreement;
the original passport is to be left with an unauthorised person.
Before travelling, establish the legal basis for employment, the document-processing timeframe, and the party to the agreement. The agency and the factory are often separate legal entities; the written conditions should make clear who pays the salary and handles complaints.

Such positions may be available in assembly, packing, quality inspection, and simple production tasks. Before working independently, you should receive training and a workplace induction.
Recruitment depends on the season and order volumes. Common industries include automotive components, electronics, household appliances, food production, plastics, metalworking, furniture, and packaging.
From 1 January 2026, the minimum pay is PLN 4,806 gross per month under an employment contract for full-time employment and PLN 31.40 gross per hour for certain civil law contracts.
Yes, if the company lawfully applies the relevant working-time system. You should confirm the schedule, breaks, settlement period, and how overtime is paid. Check the exact start and finish times and verify transportation options for early and late shifts.
For simple production tasks, it may sometimes be enough to understand safety instructions. Machine operators, technical roles, documentation-related positions, and supervisory jobs usually require a higher level of Polish. Confirm in advance which language is used for the safety briefing and for explaining daily work tasks.
Check the factory, workplace address, job duties, contract type, pay rate, guaranteed working hours, work schedule, performance targets, bonus conditions, workplace temperature, accommodation, transportation, and any deductions. All important conditions should be confirmed for the specific vacancy before buying tickets.
